My Review:

I first want to say thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the chance to review this novel.  For those who don’t know I am a big fan of Ms. Day’s Crossfire Series and her as well.  Although I am not a big historical romance reader, I was thrilled when I saw this novel up for ARC reviews. I anticipated that it wouldn’t disappoint and I was absolutely right.

Colin “stalks” Amelia at a masquerade ball unable to take his eyes off of her. Colin has loved Amelia since they were kids.  He has made a vow to make her his in every way.  Coming back from the “dead” is going to be tricky and not without feelings of betrayal and anger, and he is aware of that. With his life in danger, Colin tries to stay away from her, but Amelia’s obsession with the masked stranger leads to a chaste kiss and ultimately her virginity.

Amelia notices the stranger watching her and is immediately intrigued. Although technically betrothed to another, Amelia’s obsession for the stranger makes her reckless. Amelia sets out to make sure that the identity of her masked admirer is known.  She is drawn to him with primal lust and passion even with her heart holding on to a love lost. When Colin revels that it is truly him that has taken her virginity and heart again, Amelia is troubled.

Without giving away too much more…Sylvia Day weaves together a historical mystery romance that does not leave readers disappointed.  The characters are vibrant and sure of themselves, even the secondary ones.  The writing style is easy to follow and the novel is an easy read.  I finished it within a day.

I definitely recommend this book, especially if you are already a fan of Ms. Day
